Joseph Kortan's Obituary
Joseph J. Kortan, age 60, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010 at St. John West Shore Hospital following a sudden illness.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York and had been a resident of North Olmsted since 1961 moving from Westlake.
Joseph was a school teacher with Parma High School where he taught for over 30 years, retiring in 2002. He then continued to substitute teach.
He loved to read and enjoyed history and politics.
Survivors include his mother, Gertrude Kortan of North Olmsted.
He was preceded in death by his father, William in 1969.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held on Thursday at 8:45 AM.
A 9:30 AM mass will follow at St. Richard's Catholic Church, 26855 Lorain Rd., North Olmsted. Rev. Charles Stollenwerk, pastor, will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Cleveland.
