Joseph H. Gavin's Obituary
Joseph “Joe” H. Gavin, age 84, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022 at St. John Medical Center in Westlake.
He was born in Columbia, Tennessee and had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1989 moving from Bay Village where he resided for 20 years.
He worked in sales and marketing for Heil Process in Avon and Ceilcote Company in Berea along with several other companies. He retired as a field service representative from Human Arc in Cleveland in 2013 after 13 years.
Joe enjoyed playing Sudoku and traveling to visit with family members. His greatest joy was found in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, attending their sporting events with his wife Nancy. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in North Ridgeville where he was active as a Eucharistic Minister, Home Ministry and Parish Council. He volunteered at the North Ridgeville Senior Center delivery Meals on Wheels, was involved with the prison ministry and officiated soccer.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Nancy (nee Stiff); son, Tom (April) Gavin of Allendale, Michigan, daughter, Beth (Ryan) English of Bay Village, stepsons, Michael (Mary Jane) Pecze of Ashland, Massachusetts, Scott (Revonda) Pecze of Amherst, Robert (Susie) Pecze of Round Rock, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Lucia Gavin, sisters, Patsy Barnes and Barbara Walker; brother, Bill Gavin.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. for a prayer service preceding a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville. Mass will be livestreamed at https://stpeternr.org/broadcast-events. Rev. Bob Franco will officiate. Interment will be in Ridgeville Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
