John Williams' Obituary
John Edward Williams, age 78, of Avon, died Friday evening at his home following a long illness. Born in Cleveland, he lived in Avon for the last four years. He is formerly of Oak Harbor and Westlake, where he lived for most of his life. He spent the last 16 winters in Punta Gorda, Florida. He served in the US Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Williams was a branch manager for Cleveland Trust, which is now known as Key Corp, for 34 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Avon, Rotary Club of Brooklyn and former member of Holy Name Society at St. Mary's, Berea. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and collecting trains. He was also an avid ice skater and skated three times a week.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Evelyn Stovicek-Williams (nee Maddock); sons, John Williams Jr. of Lodi, Ohio, David Williams of Avon Lake; three stepsons, Robert Stovicek of Santa Maria, California, Gene Stovicek of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky, and Raymond Stovicek of North Ridgeville; three stepdaughters, Laurie Shaw of Carson City, Nevada, Susan Capiccioni of Grafton and Janet Cozzarin of Brookpark; 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren..
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Williams; parents, Percy and Mary Williams and stepson, Donald Stovicek in 1979.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday December 9, 2006 at 10:00AM at Holy Trinity Church, 33601 Detroit Rd., Avon, 44011. Rev. John Misenko, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be private at Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted.
