John R. "Bud" Slater Sr.'s Obituary
John R. “Bud” Slater Sr., age 75, of Avon Lake, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights after a lengthy illness.
He was born on April 2, 1948 in Indiana, Pennsylvania, was a U.S. Army Veteran and worked as an owner operator truck driver for his company JS Transportation and All Freight in Cleveland. He also worked as an electrician with his brother Tom for many years.
In his free time, Bud loved being outdoors in the woods hunting. He was also an avid fan of NASCAR.
He is survived by his wife Antoinette Slater; son John Jr. (Lisa) Slater; brother Tim Sr. (Marilyn) Slater; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents John and Mildred (nee Deyarmin) Slater; brother Tom Slater Sr.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023 AT 1:30 P.M. at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria (PLEASE MEET AT THE FRONT GATE). Rev. Chuck Behrens will officiate.
