John E. Rand's Obituary
John E. Rand, age 78, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at his home.
He was born in Rahway, New Jersey and had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1985. He previously lived in Elyria and Oberlin. John served in the US Navy from 1956-1960. He worked at Oberlin College before going on to work as a Stationary Engineer for BF Goodrich, retiring in 1995 after 27 years. He was a member of VFW Post 7035 in Avon.He was an avid fisherman and Cleveland Browns fan.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Doris (nee Lassiter); sons, John (Belinda) Rand of Fayettville, NC, Christopher Rand of Oberlin; daughters, Jennifer Rand (Dr. Michael Soda) of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Debby (Dave) Bizzell of High Rolls Mountain Park, New Mexico, Laura St. Clair of Ashtabula; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; step-son, Brian (Laura) Trout of Sheffield Village; step-daughters, Cindy (Dan) Griffiths of Elyria, Patti (Chuck) Carpenter of Lenoir, North Carolina; 8 step-grandchildren; brother, Charles (Susan) Rand of Harvard, Illinois and sister, Carol (Ed) McLean of Rahway, New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Helen (nee Dittemer) Rand.
Friends may call Friday from 4-7PM at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Services will be held on Saturday at 11 AM in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
