John Pitts' Obituary
John Charles "Jack" Pitts, age 70 of Deltona, FL formerly of Elyria died Friday, February 24, 2006 at Fish Memorial Hospital in Orange City, Florida following a short illness.
He was born September 12, 1935 in Cleveland, OH. He had resided in Lakewood the past five years having moved from Elyria. He previously lived in North Ridgeville. He had spent the past 6 winters in Winterhaven, Florida.
He was a devoted member of Sts Peter and Paul Orthodox Church of America, Lorain where he was a former parish council President and Board Member for many years and taught Sunday School.
Mr. Pitts attended Ohio University and was a US Army Veteran.
He retired in 2000 from Yuasa Exide Corporation, Hetner Division, Cleveland where he was a design draftsman.
Mr. Pitts was a accomplished artist, painting with pencil, oil, and water colors and enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Maria (nee Borysiewicz) daughter, Theresa Cassell of Carlisle Township; Son, David Pitts of Parma; Five Grandchildren; 2 brothers, James and Charles Pitts both of Avon Lake; 2 Sisters, Deanna King of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Mary Ann Pitts-Burton of Fairview Park.
He was preceded in death by Parents, Charles and Mary Pitts.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-9 PM at SS Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church 2238 East 32nd Street, Lorain, where a Parastas Service will take place at 8:00 PM. Friends may also call Thursday from 10:30 AM until time of services at 11:00AM at the church. Rev. Father Basil Stoyka, Pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted. The VFW Post 9871, North Ridgeville will conduct full military honors at the grave site.
