John Lyndes' Obituary
John W. Lyndes, 59, of Elyria, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Elyria Memorial Hospital following a two-year struggle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).
John was born August 28, 1952 in Berea to the late Orville "Pat" Lyndes and Margaret (nee Wagner) Lyndes, North Ridgeville. He married Susan Balog September 15, 1979 in North Ridgeville.
John is lovingly survived by his wife, Sue; children, Andrea (Zac) Horning, Lorain and Eric (Allie) Lyndes, Grafton; brother, Al (Shirley) Lyndes, Beaver Falls, Pa.; and sister Marge (Ray) Cooney, Avon.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Adam Lyndes.
John worked in machine repair maintenance at EMC Precision for more than 20 years. He also donated time to work on machines at the Lorain County JVS. In his free time, John enjoyed hunting, trapping, camping (especially at Pymatuning), and restoring old vehicles. He also served as a Boy Scout leader and coached all of his children's sports. John will be remembered for his joy-filled, positive nature, for the smile he always seemed to share with others and for his enduring strength. He was a wonderful husband and father and will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday from 5-8 p.m. in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville, where funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2012. Burial will follow at Fields Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
Memorials are suggested to the Elyria Little League or the ALS Association.
