John Kodysh's Obituary
John " Jack" Kodysh 78 of North Ridgeville died Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born September 5, 1928 in Cleveland where he lived until moving to North Ridgeville in 1943.
Mr. Kodysh graduated from North Ridgeville High School in 1946. He served as a Corporal with the US Marines in China during which time he played the base drum with the First Division Marine Band. He later played bass for the Charles Bisgrove Orchestra, and for several other bands as well. He was a member of the Cleveland Musicians Union Local 4; a member of the Elyria VFW Post 1079, the United Polish Club, Elyria, and the Polish Fishermen's Club, of Lorain.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling, camping, volunteering with the Boy Scout Troop 153 and at the Oberlin Senior Center; where he enjoyed weaving on looms; creating many handmade items and developing new friendships.
Mr. Kodysh was employed as an assembler/ inspector with Bendix-Westinghouse, Elyria for thirty-four years, retiring in 1983.
Surviving are three sons, Timothy Kodysh of Naalehu, Hawaii, Peter Kodysh of North Ridgeville, and John Kodysh of Toledo; four daughters, Jenifer Cutter ( Robert ) of Castalia, Nancy Spadafore ( Michael ) of Elyria, Mary Kodysh of Westlake, and Katherine Bing (Dan) of North Ridgeville; and fifteen grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna (nee Worcester) in 2001; parents, Charles and Julia Kodysh; an infant daughter; and two sisters, Florence Billmyer and Jeanne Snyder.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville, where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 AM Monday. 1 0 AM Mass to follow at St. Peter Catholic Church, 35777 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville with Rev. Charles Ryba, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Columbia Station officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery where the Elyria VFW Post 1079 will conduct full military honors.
