John T. Campana's Obituary
John T. Campana, age 83, of Grafton Township, passed away at his home on October 7, 2013 after a lengthy illness.
He was born on January 27, 1930 in Westlake, Ohio and lived in North Ridgeville for 55 years before moving to Grafton Township earlier this year. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. John was the Corporate Vice President at Dreco Inc. in North Ridgeville, retiring in 1979. He also retired as a North Ridgeville Volunteer Fireman after 25 years of service. He and his wife Lorene went on to own and run the Oak Park Lake Campground in Russia Township.
He was the past Commander at the American Legion, Post 12, Elyria, a member of the Amvets, V.F.W. Post 9871, North Ridgeville, a 32 ̊ Mason, and a past member of Clowns of America and El Rey Grotto.
In the summer months, John could be found on his boat fishing, which he loved to do. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing and working in his garden.
John is survived by his son Ken Campana; daughters Barb (Jim) Furr and Deb (Greg) Campbell; 7 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sister Louise (Robert) Schultz; uncle of many.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lorene (nee Draudt); parents Thomas and Philomena (nee Salerno) Campana.
Family will receive friends on Thursday 4-8 p.m. in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville where Services will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Rev. David Howell will officiate. Interment private. Family requests donations to the American Heart Assn., P.O. Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60695.
