John “ Jack “ Bernhart Hootman , age 74 of Berea passed away after a brief illness Wednesday June 7, 2023 , at Southwest General Hospice Center in Strongsville . He was born December 9, 1948 and graduated from Rocky River High School . He worked as a carpenter and general contractor for many years after being drafted to the US Army / National guard. Jack was a lifelong equestrian with interests in reining and barrel racing . He was a founding member of Central Ohio Reining Horse Association (CORHA). He is survived by his children Jamie A Hootman of Avon Lake and John W Hootman of Grafton , granddaughter Victoria Wick , sisters Judy ( Mark) Tunnell of Ashburn VA, Jill Hootman of Clarksville, TN, Jennifer Hootman Graham of Clarksville , TN, several nieces, nephews, and cousins . He was preceded in death by his parents John Chester and Barbara Mae Hootman. Memorial visitation Saturday, July 15, 2023, from 2 pm until time of service at 3 pm at Bogner Family Funeral Home , 36625 Center Ridge Rd , North Ridgeville. James Yannayon will officiate .
