John R. Axford's Obituary
John R. Axford, age 67, of Amherst, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Lorain.
He was born in Elyria, grew up in Grafton and had lived in Amherst for the past two years. He previously resided in Wellington, Litchfield and Medina County.
John served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
He worked as an auto and truck mechanic and was a produce vender at various local markets.
He enjoyed woodcarving, painting, being in the great outdoors, camping, catfishing and hunting.
Survivors include his sons, Charles (Taylor Hardwick) Axford of Amherst, Matt (Lisa Adams) Axford of Lorain, John “Spanky” Axford of Macedonia; daughters, April (Ryan) Hutson of Elizabeth Town, Kentucky, Michelle Wright of Wellington; grandchildren, Sydney, Otto, Lana and Will; brothers, Clyde of Vermilion, Charles of North Eaton, Larry (Lori) of Louisville, Kentucky, Gary (Jenny) of Elyria, James of North Ridgeville, Mark of North Eaton, Russ (Erica) of Spencer; sisters, Kathy (Jerry) Satliff of Prospect Hills, North Carolina, Lila (mike) Grey of Georgia, Helen (Rob) Thompson of Medina, Sally (Dave) Thacker of Elyria and Joyce Axford of North Eaton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lila (nee Hamlin) Axford.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday at 6PM at The Sanctuary, 114 W. Main St., South Amherst, OH 44001.
