Joanne N. Opava's Obituary
Joanne N. Opava (nee Michel), age 80, of Westlake, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Fairview Hospital in Cleveland. She was born on January 4, 1943 in Cleveland and has been a resident of Westlake for the past 5 years, having previously lived in Avon Lake and North Ridgeville. She worked as a registered nurse at the Cleveland Clinic, retiring in 2005. She went on to volunteer with hospice and enjoyed working at the Avon Lake Public Library. Joanne was a Reiki Master and enjoyed cooking and traveling. She could be found in the summer months, tending to her garden and the herbs she planted. She is survived by her children Jerry Opava of AZ, Mary (David) Helle of North Ridgeville, James Opava of Groveport and Ann Russo of Cleveland; granddaughters Anna and Natalie Opava of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Anna (nee Kovaleski) Michel. Funeral Service Friday, November 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville, where family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service. Rev. Richard Gonser will officiate. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 E. 185th Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44119 or the Alzheimer's Association, 23215 Commerce Park Drive, Suite 300, Beachwood, Ohio 44122.
