Joan E. Lasch's Obituary
Joan E. Lasch (nee King), age 90, of Westlake, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Southwest Residential Hospice in Strongsville after a brief illness.
She was born on August 15, 1929 in Baltimore, Maryland and had lived in New York and Cincinnati before coming to northeast Ohio as a new bride in 1949. She had been a resident of North Ridgeville from 1949 to 1953, when she moved into the Westlake home she and her husband George built together. Joan worked as a swim instructor for the YWCA. She and her husband George were game for any adventure, and enjoyed camping and RVing, becoming members of the Ohio Arrows RV Club upon George’s retirement. She was a lover of nature and enjoyed bird watching, sailing with her husband, and was an avid reader of history and literature. Her own family history was important to her, and she became a passionate genealogist for not only her lineage, but that of her husband, which led her to belong to many genealogical societies, including the Wyckoff Association and the Wing Family of America. The summer months would find her watching her beloved Indians baseball games. The most important thing in Joan’s life though, was her family, which was always number one in her heart.
She is survived by her daughter Christina (Jim) Polson; son Steven (Linda) Lasch; grandchildren Jim (Jennie) Polson of IL, Adam (Megan) Polson of MI, Colin (Meredith) Lasch of FL and the Rev. Ian (Rev. Loren) Lasch of MO; 8 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, George; parents Charles and Frances (nee Muller) King; sister Barbara Dahn. Memorial Service Friday, October 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville, where family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The Rev. Ian Lasch will officiate. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, social distancing will be practiced, and face covering are required. Interment will be private.
