Jerry Powell's Obituary
Jerry L. "Butch" Powell, age 59, of Columbia Station passed away Monday January 25, 2010 at the Cleveland Clinic following a long illness.
He was born in Lexington, Kentucky, and was a life long resident of Columbia Station.
Mr. Powell served in the US Air Force reserves from 1970-1976.
He was employed at VanDorn DeMag in Strongsville from 1993-2003. He previously worked for TRW in Independence and 15 years with Dick Bigelow Chevrolet in Parma.
Mr. Powell was a member of North Ridgeville Baptist Church and Loved to Sing and play the guitar. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and playing with his dog Faith.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Sandy (nee Davis), daughters, Shari (Fred) Helwig of N. Ridgeville, Amanda (Greg) Ritchie of Sheffield Lake, son Chad (Lisa) Powell of N. Ridgeville, three grandchildren, Devin Bell, Ashlee Ritchie and Tyler "Jake" Helwig, his mother, Lesetta Powell of Spencer, sister Sandra (Tom) Healy of Grafton and brother Danny (Marijane) Powell of Lodi.
He was preceded in death by his father Burford Powell in 1983, and his brother Thomas Powell in 1995.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville, where services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday. Reverend Gerald Flury, Pastor of N. Ridgeville Baptist Church will officiate.
Private interment will take place in Columbia Township Cemetery.
