Jerome J. "Jerry" Begany's Obituary
Jerome Joseph “Jerry” Begany, age 81, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at his home, following a short illness.
He was born in Cleveland and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for 40 years, moving from North Olmsted.
Jerome was a US Navy Veteran.
He worked as a banker for Key Bank Corp for over 38 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church in North Ridgeville and was the former president of the American Banking Association.
He was an avid “300 bowler” who enjoyed fishing, golfing and tending to his beautiful rose garden.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Patricia (nee Grealis); children, Jerome (Katherine) Begany of Ft. Myers, Florida, Thomas (Margaret) Begany of North Port, Florida; Brigid (Gary) Wardrope of North Olmsted, Philip (Heidi) Begany of Raleigh, North Carolina; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, James (Rosemary) Begany and Phillip (Grace) Begany; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Joanna (nee Masar) Begany; brother, Andrew Begany.
Friends may call Thursday from 5-8PM at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville, where a prayer service will be on Friday at 9:30AM followed by a 10AM Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church, 5500 Lear Nagle Rd., N. Ridgeville. Rev. Jerry Keller will be the celebrant.
Burial will be at a later date in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Julie Billiart School Fund.
