Jennie Veinfortner's Obituary
Jennie M. Veinfortner (nee Rosso), age 92, of Olmsted Township, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at her home, following a short illness.
Jennie was born on May 31, 1919 in Lorain, Ohio and has lived in Olmsted Township since 1953, after moving from Lorain. She graduated in 1937 from Lorain High School and went on to serve in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. Following her service, Jennie went to work as a Stenographer in the Industrial Engineering Department at the USS Lorain Steel Works. Jennie also worked as a School Bus Driver in the Olmsted Falls School District.
Jennie was an active member at St. Mary of the Falls in Olmsted Falls for over 50 years. She was also involved in Olmsted Township politics; and, always enjoyed spending time working outside. Along with volunteering for many programs within her church, she gave her time and effort to numerous other places. These included delivering meals for St. Paul's Meals on Wheels in Berea; Phone a Friend, a program for children home alone in the Berea School District; a Reading Tutor in the Olmsted Falls Elementary Schools: and, as a worker at St Procop's hot meal program.
She is survived by her daughters, Ellen Veinfortner of Olmsted Township, Laurel (Ron) Decker of Carlisle Township; grandchildren, David C. Schrauf and Amy L. Schrauf; brother, Joseph Rosso of Ashland. She is preceded in death by her husband, William in 1998; parents, Louis and Anna Rosso; brothers, Sam, Louis, John, James; and sisters, Lena Jasinski, Frances Kobylka, Rosemary Zehnder and Ethel Rushton.
Friends will be received on Friday from 5-8 PM at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 AM followed by a 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Falls, 8262 Columbia Rd, Olmsted Falls on Saturday at 10 AM. Rev. Sean Ralph will be the celebrant. Internment in Chestnut Grove Cemetery.
