Jeffery Gessner's Obituary
Jeffery W. Gessner, age 55, of Grafton, passed away, Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at University Hospitals in Cleveland, following a short illness.
He was born in Elyria and grew up in North Ridgeville. He had resided in Grafton for the past 11 years, having moved from Eaton Twp.
Jeff retired in 2008 after 25 years of service with Laborer Local 310 in Cleveland, working for Panzica Construction Company in Mayfield Village.
He was a member of Fields United Methodist Church in North Ridgeville.
Jeff's passion, besides doting over his family, was deer and turkey hunting in southern Ohio. Being "Papa" to grandsons, Noah and Rowan was the favorite part of his retirement. Jeff loved to travel, was an excellent chef and a lover of food.
Jeff was the beloved husband and best friend to Sue (nee Shoemaker) for 37 years; loving father to Jennifer Shankleton (Jason) of Massillon and Jessica Gessner (Jack Albakour) of Grafton; loving Papa to Noah and Rowan Shankleton; son to Sally Gessner of North Ridgeville; brother to Ken of North Ridgeville, Rick (Mary) of North Olmsted; father-in-law, Harold Shoemaker of Elyria; hunting buddy to Todd Shoemaker and his 4 legged companion, Ruby, uncle to many nieces and nephews. Jeff will be sadly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Gessner in 1989 and mother-in-law, Joan Shoemaker in 1999.
Friends may call Sunday, from 2-5 PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville. Services will be held on Monday at 11 AM in the funeral home. Rev. Dr. Tom Joyce, will officiate.
Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
