Janet Ennes' Obituary
Janet MaryAnn (James) Ennes, age 87, of North Ridgeville, passed away in her home
from cancer on Monday, August 2, 2021. She was born on January 22, 1934 in
Chicago, Illinois and has been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 38 years,
moving from Elyria.
Janet was the beloved wife of James Ennes, loving mother of Jon (Kathleen) Hinkofer,
Joanne (Bill) Grady, Shari (Randy) Goodsite, loving step-mother of Scott Ennes, Dave
(Karen) Ennes, and Laurie (Dave) Freeman, and grandmother of nine grandchildren,
and one great grandson.
Janet was a proud graduate of Baldwin Wallace University. She completed her degree
in music (as a nontraditional student) at age 54. Janet shared her gift of music freely as
a professional singer under the name Jan Pride, and as a healing service volunteer for
15 years with Hospice and other services for the elderly. Over decades, her healing
practice of Reiki/Therapeutic Touch also contributed significantly to the overall health
and well-being of others.
Janet had a passion for experiencing life to the fullest. She loved animals - both house
pets and the wild "pets" that gathered to feast on the offering of treats on her backyard
patio. Jan and her husband traveled frequently, with a particular intent to understand
and bond with the history, people, and traditions of the places they visited. Her home
has been filled with a museum-like collection of objects, each of which has a story that
represents a meaningful life experience, and many of which will continue to be
displayed for years to come in the homes of friends and loved ones. But above all, she
was passionate about family and friends, and about the deep relationships that she
formed over the years that seemed to become stronger with time.
The family will receive friends at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge
Rd, North Ridgeville, OH 44039, next Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 1:00 pm until the time of
Memorial Service at 3:00 pm.
Janet’s favorite charities to donate to were Hospice of Western Reserve and Friendship
Animal Protective League of Elyria.
