Jane Kilby's Obituary
Jane Ellen Kilby (nee Leonard), age 49, died on Monday morning at EMH Regional Center following a long illness.
She was a life long resident of North Ridgeville.
She received her associate degree from Lorain County Community College in early childhood education.
Mrs. Kilby was an administrator and school teacher for the past 14 years with the preschool program at the Shepherd of the Ridge Lutheran Church and loved every minute of it.
Jane Kilby said at the time of her resignation due to health problems that " the church has had a preschool program for approximately 27 years and the part she particularly enjoyed was the spirituality she could impart to the little ones." God always has played a major part in Mrs. Kilby's life which is why she so enjoyed sharing it with others.
For more than a decade Jane Kilby had been teaching others about God and faith and for the past six years that faith had been put to a difficult test as she battled cancer.
In 2004 Mrs. Kilby was named "Early Childhood Teacher of Lorain County", which was a very special honor for her.
She was a member of the Harvest Ridge Assembly of God, North Ridgeville; where her and her husband have been Sunday School Superintendents for the past 4 years. She had previously taught Sunday School and Childrens Church since the age of 19.
She enjoyed organizing family events, country crafts, playing the guitar and singing.
Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Jim W. Kilby; children, Jodi L.(Randy) Unangst, of Elyria, Kimberly A. (Doug) Thompson and Jeremy W. Kilby, both of North Ridgeville; grandchild, Andrew Carter Unangst of Elyria; parents, Walter and Nell (nee Stokes) Leonard, of North Ridgeville; brothers, Glen Leonard, of North Ridgeville, Steve Leonard, of Elyria and Michael Leonard, of North Ridgeville.
