James Stobe's Obituary
James F. "Jim" Stobe, age 74, of N. Royalton, formerly of N. Ridgeville, passed away Saturday February 18, 2012 at Hospice of the Western Reserve at the Renaissance in Olmsted Falls following a long illness. He was born in Cleveland, resided most of his life in North Ridgeville until moving to North Royalton in 2003. He earned his Bachelors degree from Baldwin Wallace College and his Master in Education from Kent State University. Mr. Stobe was a Math Teacher for North Olmsted City School for 35 years, retiring in 1995.He volunteered with AARP doing tax preparation and enjoyed biking and traveling. He and his wife Ann have wintered in the Lake Fairways Community of North Fort Myers, Florida for the past 9 years. Jim was active with the Men's Chorale and was Director and played the piano for the Gospel Guys. He was a member of Fields United Methodist Church in North Ridgeville. Formerly, as a member of Westlake United Methodist Church, he served as a lay delegate to the annual conference, served on the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee and taught Sunday School. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Ann (nee Massa), daughter Diane (Nick) Carrozza of Avon Lake, son Jim (Kristin) Stobe of Avon Lake, grandchildren, Savannah and CJ Stobe and Grayson Carrozza, along with his sister, Nancy (Rick) Schartman of North Ridgeville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Amanda Stobe. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-7PM at Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville. Friends may also call at Fields United Methodist Church 34077 Lorain Rd, N. Ridgeville from 9:30 AM Wednesday until time of service at 10 AM. Reverend Dr. Thomas Joyce, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted. Memorial contributions for cancer research are suggested to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave, 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851.
