James M. "Jim" Salem's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of James M. Salem, age 76, of N. Ridgeville, Ohio, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 18, at Ames House Hospice of The Western Reserve in Westlake, Ohio. Born in Cleveland to Eileen ( nee Boland) and Sam Salem, James was raised in Westlake, Ohio. Later in his adult life he lived with his family in Bay Village, Medina, & Brecksville, before retiring to N. Ridgeville 5 years ago. He graduated Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in Biological Sciences, with a baseball pitching scholarship, helping his teammates win the MAC Conference in 1972. Prior to his retirement in 2021, Jim was owner of Geotronix, Inc., a manufacturer’s representative firm, supplying major industrial companies with electronic components for 44 years. James was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was the embodiment of ‘living by example’, known for his gentle, kind & endearing character. Throughout life he enjoyed traveling, hiking, woodworking, writing and coaching baseball. James is survived by his wife of 46 years, Paulette; his daughter, Kristen; his son, Ryan (Andrea); and his 3 grandchildren, Jack, Grace and Josephine who adored their ‘Jiddu’.
A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 30th, 2026, from 10:00am, until the mass of Christian Burial begins at 11:00am at St. Ladislas Church 2345 Bassett Rd, Westlake, OH 44145 followed by a Celebration of Life, also at St. Ladislas Church in Westlake, Ohio.
