James Pettit's Obituary
James Pettit, 75, of North Ridgeville, died on March 19, 2008 at St. John Westshore Hospital following a long illness.
He was born in Wetzel County, WV and had resided in North Ridgeville the past 46 years; having moved from Cleveland.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in N. Ridgeville.
Mr. Pettit served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.
He worked 35 years as a die setter for the Modern Tool and Die Company, Brookpark; until his retirement in 1988. After retirment he worked part time at David Bogner Family Funeral Home.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 12, Avon, the Order of the Cootie-Puptent 45 and was a charter member of the North Ridgeville VFW Post 9871 serving as Chaplin for many years. He also volunteered his time with the North Ridgeville Senior Center serving on the Senior Advisory Committee for the past several years.
He enjoyed engaging in great conversation with people and had a love for woodworking.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Janice (nee Quinn) Pettit; daughters, Victoria McDowell, of Charleston, WV, Teresa (Tom) Nagel, of Cleveland and Carol (Shane) Roberson, of Dayton; son James (Jayne) Pettit, of N. Ridgeville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James N. and Ada (nee Palmer) Pettit and a sister, Mary Darlene.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 24th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville; where the Order of the Cootie and the N. Ridgeville VFW will conduct services at 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. The Reverend Stephen Kaminski, pastor of St. Peter Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH
