James J. O'Connor's Obituary
James J. O’Connor, age 87, of Elyria, passed away Monday, June 29, 2020 at his home. He was born August 23, 1932 in Elyria where he had been a lifelong resident. He was a member of the US Army and St. Peter Catholic Church. Jim was owner/operator of O’Connor Office Machines. He was a hockey player, raced cars, loved the outdoors, enjoyed hunting and fishing, Cleveland Sports, was active in the Grafton Hot Stove League, and was a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Helen (nee Rodak); daughter Sharon Urig of North Ridgeville; sons James Jr. (Suzanne) of Jefferson, OH, and Timothy (Vanessa) of Canton, GA; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and 1 due very soon; sisters Geraldine (Wayne) Diederich of CT., JoAnne (John) Scott of Elyria; many nieces and nephews; Jim was preceded in death by his daughter baby Denise Marie; parents Gerald and Marie; sister Rosemary Lear; brothers Richard and Edward. Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 1PM, (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Rev Bob Franco, Pastor will officiate. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Peter School www.stpeterschoolnr.org, or St. Mary School www.stmarycatholicschoolelyria.com.
