James J. Nichols' Obituary
James J. Nichols, age 81, of North Ridgeville, passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Cardinal Court Care Center in Strongsville. He was born on January 4, 1939 in Indianapolis, IN and had been a lifelong resident of North Ridgeville. He worked as a building engineer in the home building business before being self employed as a real estate broker and owner with Bob Schmitt Realty in North Ridgeville. Jim enjoyed sailing, photography, traveling, flying, scuba diving, and especially investing. In his college years he played football for Michigan State University. He loved his beloved dogs Sam and Obe. He is survived by his children Chad of Reno, NV., and Julie of Bend, OR; longtime partner of many years Marie Merkel of North Ridgeville; grandchildren Helena, Eddie; sister Suelyn Raines of Strongsville; He was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Barbara Schmitt who raised him, and Fred Nichols, his biological father and Anne Nichols his step-mother. The family will celebrate his life in private.
