Pastor James K. Monday's Obituary
James K. Monday, age 78, of Elyria, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at the Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake after a lengthy illness.
He was born on September 11, 1941 in Liberty, West Virginia and has been a resident of Elyria for the past 28 years, moving from North Ridgeville. He was a graduate of Elyria High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army. He worked in paint repair and incoming quality at the Ford Motor Company for over 30 years, retiring in 1995. James was a member of UAW Local 2000, as well as the V.F.W. and American Legion. He was the Pastor of Praise and Worship Church in Elyria for the past 24 years, where he was very involved and active with his congregation. In his free time, James enjoyed working on clocks, traveling with his wife, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons James (Charlene) Monday of Sheffield Lake, Michael Monday of Elyria; stepson, James (Larisa) Bays of Puyallup, Washington; daughters Jeri (Mick) Sexton of Grayson, KY and Jodi McIntire of Elyria, stepdaughter Peggy York of Tacoma, Washington; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; brother Keith (Goldie) Monday.
James was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Jean; parents Sigel and Albertha (nee Lacy) Monday; brothers Bill and Ari; sisters Betty, Theresa and Becky.
The Monday Family would like to send a special thank you to all those who cared for James at the Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake.
Funeral Service Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville, where family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. James’ brother, Pastor Keith Monday will officiate. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, social distancing will be practiced, and face covering are required.
Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
