James Miller,'s Obituary
James W. Miller, Jr., 72, died suddenly Sunday, June 14, 2009 in North Ridgeville. He was born August 20, 1936 to Mary Kate Lodge and the late James W. Miller.
He attended John Carroll University (1954-58), enlisted in the U.S. Army - Army Medical Corps., Behavioral Science Specialist (1959-62) and a CSU Graduate.
Longstanding member of the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce (President 1981-1982), Ohio Bell Manager from 1964-1982, relocated to AT&T in New Jersey and retired after 34 years. A faithful follower and advocate of Servant Leadership Principles throughout his career, Jim coached teams at all levels of management on how to "serve first and lead second." He and his wife, Joyce were longstanding members and speakers for the 'Marriage Encounter' community. He had a great marriage of 42 years (1959-2002) and will be missed greatly by his family and his many friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce Miller; sister, Patricia; wonderful and loving father of Kathleen M. Miller, James J. Miller (Debra), Patricia A. Miller-Saliba (Anthony) and Robert M. Miller (Michelle); grandfather of Christa McKinney, Brandon Miller, Jacob, Zachary, Joshua Saliba, and Lainey Miller; great-grandfather of Natalie and Derek McKinney.
Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 9 P.M. at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North, Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held at 9:15AM Saturday followed by a 10:00 AM Mass at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church,, 41295 N. Ridge Rd., Elyria, with Fr. James Ols as the Celebrant. Burial will be at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Brook Park. Reception to follow.
