James S. Hurst's Obituary
JAMES S. HURST, age 78 of North Ridgeville, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Ames Family Hospice House after a lengthy illness. He was born in Wakeman, OH, raised in Pittsfield, OH and attended Oberlin Schools. He had been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 53 years. Jim graduated from Fenn College (CSU) in 1961 with a BS in Civil Engineering. In addition to teaching at Cleveland State University for 32 years, he worked as a Consulting Engineer for Evans and Associates, Austin Engineering, and owned Ohio Mechanical. Jim was a founding member of North Ridgeville Jaycees where he served as a District Vice President and National Director. He was a member of JC International Senator for Life #9096, the North Ridgeville Republican Club where he served as past president, past chairman and member of the North Ridgeville Planning Commission, past member of the North Ridgeville Flood and Drainage Board, as well as, a past member of the North Ridgeville Community Development Association, and the Lions Club. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church of Parma. Jim has always been proud to call North Ridgeville his home and considered it a privilege to serve his fellow man. Survivors include his wife, Helen W. (nee Walton); son, James W. (Doreen) of Parma; daughter, Allyson of North Ridgeville; granddaughter Kayleigh; sisters, Arlene Pycraft and Loretta Bartter; brothers, Russell, Edwin, John, and Larry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elton and Thelma; and his sister, Janet Haynes. . Friends may call WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM for a memorial visitation at BOGNER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville where a Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, June 16 at 10:30 AM.
