James Richard "Jim" Hovanitz's Obituary
James Richard “Jim” Hovanitz, age 68, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at University Hospital in Cleveland.
He was born on April 10, 1954 in Amherst, was a 1972 graduate of Clearview High School and was a 43 year resident of North Ridgeville. Jim worked as a maintenance engineer for Hyatt Regency Hotel for 25 years.
Jim loved being outdoors and many of his activities centered around that. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking, kayaking, biking and golfing, getting his first hole in one recently.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandra (nee Spencer); son Matthew (Katelynn) Hovanitz of Seattle, WA; grandchildren Brandon, Lana, Jacob and Stella Hovanitz; brothers George (Beth) Hovanitz of North Ridgeville, Theodore (Ruth Ann) Hovanitz of Vermilion and Edward (Deborah) Hovanitz of Spencer; many tresured nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents George and Helen (nee Perry) Hovanitz.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville on Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. and on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. for a prayer service preceding a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church, 2640 Stoney Ridge Road
Avon, 44011. Rev. Thomas Cleaton will officiate. Interment will be in Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township.
