James E. Hershey Sr.'s Obituary
James E. Hershey Sr., age 80, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin.
He was born in Elyria and was a lifelong resident of North Ridgeville.
James was a firefighter with the North Ridgeville Fire Department for 27 years before retiring in 1997. He also worked at Ridge Tool in Elyria for 17 years.
He was an active member of Sugar Ridge Baptist Church in North Ridgeville and a social member of North Ridgeville VFW Post 9871.
James volunteered as a trainer for the North Ridgeville Ranger Football Team and was an avid local sports fan. He was inducted into the first class of the North Ridgeville Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda (Chuck) Sherrard of Elyria; son, James E. (Sheri) Hershey Jr. of North Ridgeville; 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and sister, Jane Ellen (Jerry) Wade of North Ridgeville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena in 2009; brother, William Hershey; parents, Emory and Ethel (nee Jameson) Hershey.
Friends may call Monday from 2-9PM at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11AM at Sugar Ridge Baptist Church, 36600 Sugar Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. Rev. Scott Matovich will officiate.
Burial will be in Fields Cemetery, North Ridgeville..
