James R. Girard's Obituary
James R. Girard, age 81, of North Ridgeville passed away peacefully Friday, November 27, 2020 at his home. He was born in Cumberland, RI and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for 50 years. He worked for Martin Cab in Cleveland for over 40 years where he was a very well-respected employee. Jim loved sports and played Little League baseball. He was PTA president for Wilcox Elementary and operated the St. Peter Credit Union. He served in the military 1962-1964 and then four years in the Army Reserve. One of his favorite recollections was auditing the Pentagon. He worked for Army Audit in Washington D.C. and was just a PFC at the time he audited the generals. His favorite week of the year was during the annual summer trip to Ocean City, MD. The family vacation included Grandma, Grandpa and a special Aunt. He went crabbing and ate crab every single day and went on walks for miles and miles in the beautiful white sand. All the children saved their pennies for souvenirs, and always came home with a hermit crab. Jim never hesitated to help someone who needed to discuss a problem. They could just pull up a chair in his home office and talk face to face. He was a wonderful husband and father and just filled with energy. HE WAS HARD TO KEEP UP WITH! Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years Nancy; children Michael (Katy) from Bloomington, IL, Daniel of North Ridgeville, Holly (Roger) of Cambridge, OH; grandchildren Lauren, Ashley and Dillan Girard of North Ridgeville, Robert and Jerrod Johnson of Cambridge, OH, Violette of Oklahoma, Nolan of Bloomington, IL; great-grandson Dominic Johnson; sisters RoseAnn Warth of Iowa, Frances Farrell of Cumberland, RI; He is preceded in death by his brother Raymond; sister June Hennessy. Respecting social distancing and the wearing of masks, family will receive friends Tuesday, December 1, 2020 from 3-8PM at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd, North Ridgeville. Services will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org.
