James R. Fischer's Obituary
James R. “Jim” Fischer, age 86, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born on August 2, 1932 in Nutley, New Jersey and has been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 60 years, moving from Lakewood. Jim was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 9871 Post in North Ridgeville. He worked as a salesman for A.C. Delco, retiring in 1982 after 28 years of service. He was a member of St. Peter Church in North Ridgeville, where he was very involved in the Knights of Columbus, the St. Vincent De Paul Society, Parish Council and working the Fish Fry.
In his free time, Jim enjoyed reading, golfing, traveling and working out at the college gym. The summer months would find him working in his yard, tending to the violets he loved to grow.
Jim is survived by his wife Rita Moore; daughters Kathleen (Alan) Pollock of Lorain, Judy Ann Fischer of Vermilion, Mary Ellen “Tina” (Gregory) Flock of Amherst, Patricia Dunlap of Avon and Laura (David) Preston of Lagrange; grandchildren Nicholas James and Alexander Donald Flock, Harold Robert Dunlap and Robert David Preston; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Donna; parents Albert and Gertrude (nee Jochum) Fischer; sisters Shirley Hale and Marion Nicklawsky.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville on Friday from 4-8 p.m. and on Saturday for a 12:30 p.m. prayer service preceding a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter Church, N. Ridgeville. Rev. Andrew Hoover will officiate. Interment with Full Military Honors will be in St. Peter Cemetery.
The family requests donations be made in Jim’s name to St. Peter Church.
