Jaimee Young's Obituary
Jaimee R. Young, age 37, passed away on January 9, 2012 at the Hospice Care Center at the Renaissance in Olmsted Township after a long and valiant struggle with cancer.
Jaimee was born on September 23, 1974 in Sacramento, CA. She has lived in North Ridgeville for the past year, moving from Brooklyn, NY. She was a graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts and the French Culinary Insititute. Prior to her illness she worked as a recipe tester for many cookbook authors including Paula Deen, the Deen Brothers, and Melissa Clark. Her first book, Campfire Cookery, was published last June and was acclaimed as innovative, inventive and whimsical by In Style magazine, The Wall Street Journal and USA Today among others.
She is survived by her mother Jan (nee Karn) Young of North Ridgeville; father Joseph A. Young of Pollock Pines, CA; brother Joseph Robert (Maria) Young of San Francisco, CA; grandmother LaVora (nee Hawke) Karn of Elyria and hundreds of loving friends she made in her very full but too short life.
Jaimee was preceded in death by her beloved "Bampoo" Robert F. Karn and dear friend Patrick J. Wessel.
A Memorial Service will be held for Jaimee on Thursday, January 26 at 7:00 p.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 38307 Royalton Road, Grafton, OH 44044, where family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.
Donations in memory of Jaimee are requested to the Herb Guild Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 45222, Westlake, OH 44145. Scholarships to be awarded to deserving students furthering their education in the culinary arts.
