Jack A. Geib's Obituary
Jack A. Geib, age 74, of Elyria, was called to his heavenly home on Friday, July 25, 2014 at UH Elyria Medical Center.
He was born in Cleveland and had been a resident of Lorain County for the past 52 years including North Ridgeville, Columbia Station and Elyria.
Jack served in the US Naval Reserve for 6 years with 2 years active service during the Lebanon Crisis on the USS Barry(DD933) out of Newport, Rhode Island.
He worked as a welder for Estabrook Corp, in Berea, where he retired from in 2000. He also had worked for Thew Shovel in Lorain
Mr. Geib was a member of St. Jude’s Church in Elyria.
He enjoyed camping; fishing; gardening; golf; spending time with his family and cherished grandson. He also had memorable gatherings with friends and trips to Amish Country. He was a loving pet dad to Muffin and Mittens.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Dottie A. Geib (nee Ladygo); son, Douglas M.(fiancée Alyson Stock) of Elyria; cherished grandson, Bailey and Bailey’s mother Catherine Geib; brother, Roger J. Geib of Florida; nephew, Roger Geib also of Florida; dear friend, Darla Purcel of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by parents, Adelbert and Lavina (nee Sirl) Geib; mother and father- in- law, John and Lottie Ladygo.
A private burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In Jack’s memory, the family requests considering being an organ donor. Jack was a 16 year kidney transplant survivor. “We are so very grateful for the additional time we were given to share our love with him.”
