Hugh McCarthy's Obituary
Hugh M. McCarthy II, age 56, of Elyria, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010 at his home, following a long illness.
He was born in Cleveland and had been a resident of Elyria since 2004. He previously lived in Grafton and Cleveland.
Hugh served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.
He was a police officer at Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland for 8 years, retiring in 2000.
He was a former member of the Ohio Patrolman Benevolent Association.
Hugh was a man of God who loved his family dearly and he brought laughter and joy to all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Starlett (nee Schultz); sons, Hugh McCarthy III and Eric McCarthy both of Elyria; daughter, Juliana McCarthy of Key Largo, Florida; grandchildren,Mark, Luke and Alexia McCarthy; mother, Shirley (Bernard) Schultz of Port Clinton; sisters, Sandra McCarthy of Fairview Park, Shirley Williams of Litchfield; brothers, Gene McCarthy of Cleveland and Bernard McCarthy of West Farmington.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh McCarthy and brother, Mark McCarthy.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 AM at Harvest Ridge Assembly of God, 35600 Lorain Rd., North Ridgeville. Rev. Kevin Crow, Pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
