Herbert Long's Obituary
Herbert E. Long, age 75, of North Ridgeville, passed away Sunday, August 27th at his home following a long illness.
Born in Cleveland, he had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1973.
Mr. Long served in the US Army during the Korean War.
He worked as a clerk for the US Post Office in Elyria retiring in 1996 after 20 years of service. He previously worked as an electrician at Square D Electric in Cleveland for 20 years.
He was a founding member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, North Ridgeville.
Survivors include his sons Scott of North Ridgeville, Barry of Elyria, Kevin of Avon Lake, Doug of Medina; daughter, Erin Jester of North Ridgeville; fourteen grandchildren and brother, Raymond Leslie Long of Putney, Vermont.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan M. Long, February 8, 2006; sons, Les in 2003, infant son Jeff in 1957and parents, William Leslie and Margaret Agnes (nee Keider) Long.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-9PM at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, 5500 Lear Nagle Road, North Ridgeville where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00AM.
Rev. Dr. Richard A. Gonser, Pastor will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Avon. VFW Post 9871, North Ridgeville will conduct military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Herbert Long Memorial Fund in care of any National City Bank branch.
