Helen Gibson's Obituary
Helen K. Gibson (nee Bigler), 71, passed away at Wesleyan Village in Elyria on Saturday, July 23, 2011 after a lengthy illness.
Helen was born on April 25, 1940 in Columbus, and settled in North Ridgeville in 1969.
She and her late husband Larry owned Larry’s Beauty Salon in Bay Village and Larry’s Hair Care in Westlake before she worked for PremierBank &Trust where she became active in many bank/community functions, retiring in 1998.
Helen was a very active member of Fields United Methodist Church where she was particularly invested in mission work. She was also a proud Girl Scout Leader, member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Order of Eastern Star. Helen was active in many charities, including chairing the Multiple Sclerosis Fund Raising Committee, volunteering for Community Care of North Ridgeville, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and the Westside Hunger Center in Cleveland.
Helen is survived by her sons, Jeffrey A. (Kaye) Hebebrand of Cleveland, GA and Lawrence E. (Mary) Gibson of Westlake; daughters, Keri (Fred) Winkler of Langhorne, PA, and Kelli (David) Mezzanotte of Spring Valley; step-sons, Gerald W. Gibson of Sheffield and Robert F. (Kim) Gibson of Elyria; step-daughters, Linda M. (Pete) Udovich of Elyria and Vicki J. (Kevin) McGoldrick of Elyria; twenty-four grandchildren; and her brother, Lawrence A. (Ruth) Bigler of Lithopolis.
Proceeded in death by her husband Lawrence W. Gibson (1998); father Harry Bigler; and her mother Wilda Bigler-Parsson (nee Gearhart).
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 6 – 8 PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. A funeral service will be held at Fields United Methodist Church, 34077 Lorain Rd., North Ridgeville on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 11 AM. Reverend Dr. Tom Joyce, Pastor of Fields United Methodist Church will officiate.
