Helen Cunningham's Obituary
Helen A. Cunningham (nee Zelenka), age 85, of North Ridgeville died Tuesday at North Ridge Health Center, North Ridgeville following a long illness.
She was born in Elyria. She had resided in North Ridgeville the past 50 years moving from Elyria.
She was a graduate of Elyria High School class of 1937.
Mrs. Cunningham served in the US Army, WAC during WW II. She received the WW II Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal.
She retired in 1972 from Bendix Westinghouse, Elyria.
She enjoyed flower gardening, bird watching, cooking, was a n avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Warren, two daughters, Hallie A. Cunningham of North Ridgeville, and Lori J. Workman of Amherst, two grandchildren and several niece and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Antoinette Zelenka, one brother, Charles Zelenka Jr., five sisters, Antoinette Haswell, Emily Pasenow, Mildred Krueck and Jean McKune and Carrie Zelenka.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-9 PM in the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville. Funeral services will be held 12:30 PM Friday in the funeral home. Reverend Bill Shomo will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
The VFW Post 9871, North Ridgeville will conduct full military honors at the cemetery.
