Harry H. Gleeson's Obituary
Harry H. Gleeson, age 81, North Ridgeville, passed away Monday December 17, 2018 at Metro Health Medical Center, Cleveland from injuries sustained in an unexpected fall the prior evening.
He was born in Washington, DC. and had resided in North Ridgeville since 1998. He had previously lived in South Euclid, Northern Virginia and Virginia Beach.
A graduate of The Western High School, Washington DC. he went on to receive an Associates Degree from Northern Virginia Community College.
Harry served in the US Air Force for 20 years, earning the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He was stationed in Washington DC. where he served as the Public Relations Director of the Air Force Band. He also was the official announcer for the US Air Force Band and the Singing Sergeant’s performing at concerts worldwide. In June 2016, he was designated Historian Emeritus of the USAF Band. He co-wrote the book marking its 75th Anniversary. He also was the official announcer for the US Air Force Band and the Singing Sergeant’s preforming at concerts the worldwide.
Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Elaine "Lainie” DeMore, son, Lloyd M. Gleeson of Purcellville, VA, daughter, Vanessa Oetjens of Christiansburg, VA, three grandchildren Kaylie Arnston, Joseph and Mae Oetjens.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ross S. Gleeson and mother, Mildred F. (nee Frizzell) Kays.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 4-8 PM at the Bogner Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville.
Inurnment will take place with full military honors in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
