Gretchen Westphal's Obituary
Gretchen W. Westphal (nee Hoefs), age 81, of N. Ridgeville, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2008, at St. John Westshore Hospital, Westlake, following a brief illness.
She was born in Wisner, Nebraska and had been a resident of N. Ridgeville for the past 22 years. She previously live in Church Falls, Virginia for six years and also Fremont, Nebraska.
Mrs. Westphal was an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Westlake where she was involved in the with the Young at Heart and Caring Corps. She was a long time member of the United Transportation Union Auxiliary and the N.A.R.V.R.E organization.
She enjoyed shopping, going out to lunch with her husband and going to the movies.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, A.W. "Whitey" Westphal; sons, Lynn (Margaret) Westphal and Rodney (Karen) Westphal all of N. Ridgeville; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her sister, Rachel (Maxwell) Bernard of Holy Oak, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Clara Hoefs and brother, Kenneth Hoefs.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, N. Ridgeville. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 28455 Center Ridge Road, Westlake, OH 44145. Pastor Sherman Bishop will officiate.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
