Greg A. Manke's Obituary
Greg A. Manke I, age 68, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023, at the St. John Medical Center in Westlake. He was born on November 4, 1954, in Cleveland and has been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 45 years, originally from Parma. He was a very active member at Shepherd of the Ridge Lutheran Church in North Ridgeville. Over the years he served as a lay minister, held various positions on the church council, was involved with the youth group, and taught Sunday school and confirmation class. He was a proud Lutheran; a Bible trivia wiz and he loved belting out hymns on Sundays. He worked as an outside salesman for Pepco, retiring in 2022 after 50 years in the electrical industry, and was passionate about helping his customers and colleagues, many of whom became his dear friends. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, once catching a Fish Ohio walleye, "the best day of his life". He loved going to concerts, discovering new music, exploring local Cleveland restaurants, and was a diehard Cleveland Guardians fan. He would often go “treasure hunting” at auctions and enjoyed gardening in the summer. Greg found his greatest joy in spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Denise (nee Archacki); children Kathryn (Jeremiah) Gardner of Elyria, Gregory II (Christine) Manke of CA and Mallory (Nick) Gareau of Cleveland; grandson Owen Ross; brothers Glenn (Jan) Manke of Olmsted Falls and David (Mellodi) Manke of Valley City; sister-in-law Joan Norris of East Cleveland; many nieces and nephews. Greg was preceded in death by his father Albert (Myrtle) Manke; mother Adeline (nee Riemer) Manke; brother Allen Manke; niece Ruth Ornberg. Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral Service Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Shepherd of the Ridge Lutheran Church, 34555 Center Ridge Rd, North Ridgeville. Rev. Paul Pater will officiate (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.) Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in honor of his best cat Boris, to your local APL, or to Shepherd of the Ridge Lutheran Church.
