Grace Berendt's Obituary
Grace M. Berendt (nee Peters), age 92, of N. Olmsted, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2008, at Northridge Health Center, N. Ridgeville, following a long illness.
She was born in Cleveland, and had been a resident of N. Olmsted since 1952, moving from Fairview Park.
She worked in the cafeteria at both the N. Olmsted high school and junior high school for 10 years, retiring in 1979.
Grace was a member of St. Richard's Catholic Church, N. Olmsted and was active with the Altar Rosary Society and the Ladies Guild.
She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family.
Survivors include sons, Daniel of Olmsted Falls, Tim (Hollis) of Greeley, Colorado; daughter, Mary Ellen (James) Rizzo-Schneider of N. Ridgeville; grandchildren, Daniel (Melanie) Berendt, Michelle Rizzo, Michael (Marie) Rizzo, Jim Berendt , whom she raised since he was six months of age, Mary Beth (David) Bogner, Robin Slone, Heather Berendt, Abby Berendt, Andrea Berendt, Elizabeth Berendt; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Peters of N. Olmsted.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; an infant brother; parents, Charles and Gertrude Peters; grandson, Frances Joseph Rizzo and granddaughter, Lisa Berendt..
Friends may call Friday from 6-8PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, N. Ridgeville, where a prayer service will be on Saturday at 9:30AM.. A 10:00AM Mass will follow at St. Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Road, N. Ridgeville. Rev. Stephen Kaminski, Pastor, will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland.
