Glenn Hopkins' Obituary
Glenn L. Hopkins, of Carsile Township, 80, died on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at Life Care Center, Elyria; following a year long illness.
He was born in Elyria and had lived in Carsile Township the past twenty-five years. He also had lived in North Ridgeville and Avon.
Mr. Hopkins had served in the United States Army during WWII; with the 11th Airborne Division in Japan.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in N. Ridgeville.
He enjoyed woodworking, photography and camping.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty L. (nee Jarvis); sons, Thomas (Judy) and James (Dee) Hopkins; both of Grafton; daughter Sharon (John) Schandorsky, of Amherst; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one step-great grandchild; sisters; Elaine Cornish, of North Ridgeville and Barbara Dennis, of Berlin Heights.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Gertrude (nee Ternes) Hopkins.
The family will receive friends on Friday, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00- 9:00 PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville; where prayers will be said at 9:30 AM on Saturday; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church, 35777 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Reverend Father Leo DeChant will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery. The N. Ridgeville VFW Post 9871 will conduct the Military Honors Ceremony at the cemetery.
