Glen Sparks' Obituary
Glen Weston Sparks, age 83 of North Ridgeville died Thursday February 1, 2007 at the Welcome Nursing Home, Oberlin following a brief illness.
He was born November 4, 1923 in Cleveland and moved to N. Ridgeville in the late 1940's. He served in the US Army Air Corp during WW II. Mr. Sparks worked as a welder for Danco Metals in Westlake for twenty years, retiring in 1988. He was a former member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, N. Ridgeville, and enjoyed vegetable gardening, reading, and woodworking.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Alice Dorothy Sparks (nee Cansky); Son, Terry Sparks of Lawrenceville, GA; two daughters, Gretchen Higgins of Nova, and Susan Pilcher of Gahanna; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a brother, Leroy Sparks of Middleburg Heights.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Katherine Marie and Leroy Sparks; a granddaughter, Natalie Mary Sparks; brother, Carl, and sister, Matilda Burke.
Friends will be received from 2-4 PM Sunday at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville, where services will be held on Monday at 1:00PM with Rev. David Connor officiating.
Interment will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, Ohio where the VFW Post 9871 will conduct full military honors.
