Gladys Salisbury's Obituary
Gladys M. Salisbury (nee Ponting), age 83 of Elyria, died Thursday, April 28, 2005 at Elyria United Methodist Village following a short illness.
She was born April 22, 1922 in Cleveland. She had resided in North Ridgeville from 1935 until moving to Elyria in 1952.
She graduated from Elyria High School.
She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, North Ridgeville, the Ladies Evening Society at the Church. She also formerly was a Deaconess of the church and taught Sunday School. She volunteered at EMH Regional Medical Center, Ely School and Center Ridge Nursing Home. She also was a assistant Girl Scout Leader and Den Mother for Cub Scouts.
Mrs. Salisbury enjoyed crocheting, baking, cake decorating and gardening.
She worked in the Candy Department at GC Murphy's, North Ridgeville in the 1960's and 70's.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Judith Willcox of Perrysburg, OH, Mary Kay Karlovec of Elyria; 4 sons, Clifford Salisbury of Elyria, OH , John Salisbury of Mansfield, TX, Robert Salisbury of Metlakatla, Alaska, Kenneth Salisbury of Fairview Park, fifteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Ralph Ponting of Phoenix, Arizona, James Ponting of Grafton, and Thomas Ponting of Erie, PA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford in 1994, two brothers, Donald and Harry Ponting, Parents, Ralph and Helen Ponting.
Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9, Tuesday, May 3 at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville. Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at First Congregational United Church Of Christ with Rev. Ellen Palmer Marsey and Rev. David Connor co-officiating.
Interment will follow in the Ridgeville Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
