George Sterling's Obituary
George Sterling, age 91, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024 at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland after a lengthy illness.
He was born on September 15, 1933 in Cleveland and has been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 30 years, moving from Fairview Park and North Olmsted. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of V.F.W. 7035 in Avon, which he truly considered his family. George was the owner of Sterling Landscaping Company, retiring in 1998. His love of landscaping continued on throughout his life and he loved flowers and plants. Even though “there is always next year” became his mantra, he remained an avid Cleveland Browns fan throughout his life.
He is survived by his daughters Gail Marie (Patrick) O’Connor of Berea, Teresa Ann (David) Mihuta of Pooler, GA, Julie Ann (Brett) Seaman of Shaker Hts. and Janet Lynn ( James) Esson of Medina; 11 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his son Thomas Michael Sterling; parents Theodore and Virginia (nee Meredith) Sterling, sister Grace Super; brothers Glen and Gene Sterling.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville, on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Funeral Home. Interment with Full Military Honors will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in George’s name to V.F.W. Post 7035, 36950 Mills Rd, Avon, 44011.
