George Scarborough's Obituary
George R. Scarborough, age 84, of Avon, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home, Avon, following a short illness.
Born in Lorain, he was a resident of Avon since 1971. He previously lived in Amherst and Long Beach, California.
He served in the US Navy during WWII.
George worked as a pipe fitter for American Ship Building in Lorain and various other jobs as a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local 42, in Norwalk retiring in 1992. He was a past President of the Eagles Club in Lorain, and was a member of the Avon VFW.
Survivors include step son Tony (Diane) Bruscino of Grafton, several nieces and nephews, including Leslie Browning of North Ridgeville, Lawrence Matysiak of Westlake and Susan Lukachko of Amherst, great nephew Brad Browning, great niece Molly Lukachko and brother in law Ralph Matysiak of Westlake, three half brothers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline, parents, Albert Scarborough and Sophie Wargo, brothers, James and Robert Scarborough and his sister Jean Matysiak.
The family will receive friends Friday November 26, 2010 from 10 AM until time of service at 11 AM at David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville. Fr. Thomas Cleaton will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Avon. North Ridgeville VFW Post 9871 will conduct full military honors.
