George E. Lasch Jr.'s Obituary
George E. Lasch Jr., age 87, of Westlake, passed away on September 19, 2014 at Westlake Village Care Center after a brief illness.
He was born on July 12, 1927 in Atlanta, Georgia and has lived in Westlake since 1953, moving from North Ridgeville. George was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and previously served in the Merchant Marine. He went on to become a commercial artist, co-founder and co-owner of Myers and Lasch Inc. in Olmsted Falls before retiring in 1991.
George was extremely creative, a member of Mensa, and loved working with his hands, so much so that he and his wife built their first home together. He also had an interest in wood carving, making many cigar store and shop figures, all of which the family still enjoy today. He loved jazz and opera music, camping with his family and was a member of the Edgewater Yacht Club, where he sailed in the M.O.R.C. races. Upon his retirement, George and his wife Joan traveled in their R.V., and were members of the Ohio Arrows R.V. Club.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joan (nee King); daughter Christina (Jim) Polson of MI; son Steven (Linda) Lasch of N.C.; grandchildren Colin (Meredith) Lasch of GA, Ian (Loren) Lasch of VA, Adam (Megan) Polson of IL and Jim (Jennie) Polson of IL; 6 great grandchildren; sisters Georgia Lee Bobinsky of Berea and Stephanie Shaw of Newark, OH; brother William Lasch of AZ; many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents George E. Sr. and Ottilie W. (nee Buhr) Lasch.
Memorial Service with Military Honors, Friday at 12:00 noon in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville, where family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Rev. Chuck Behrens will officiate. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Moll Cancer Center Caring Continues Fund c/o Community West Foundation, 20545 Center Ridge Rd., Suite 448, Cleveland, OH 44116.
