Gary James Brewer's Obituary
Gary James Brewer, age 71, of Elyria, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. He was born on October 7, 1952 in Crossville, Tennessee and has been a resident of Elyria for over 25 years. He worked as an engineer for Bendix, retiring in 2020. Gary loved sports, especially football, basketball, and baseball. To Gary, the Cleveland Indians were always going to be just that, the Indians. He never knew a stranger and was a friendly face to all who knew him, always cracking jokes that would brighten everyone’s day. He was always finding ways to help others in his family and in the community. That community extended to stray cats, which he was ever willing to take care of, and he was proud to be a frequent blood donor as well. Gary displayed a remarkable gift for problem solving. He could fix anything! He will be remembered for his love of his family. They will miss his smile, his laughter, patience, and generosity. He was their Superman. All of the cats are going to miss him too!
Gary is survived by his wife of 51 years, Darlene (nee Foster); children Shannon Krajewski of Elyria, Jason Brewer of Elyria, Daryl Brewer of Las Vegas, and Asia Brewer of Elyria; grandchildren Leah, Alaina, Leia, Zavior, Amya, Alani, and Tonnell; mother Nina Joyce Brewer; and brother Randall Brewer.
He was preceded in death by his father James Brewer.
