Garland W. Shelton's Obituary
Garland Wayne Shelton, age 69, of Elyria, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, October 27, 2020, and is now singing “Glory” in His presence.
He was born on July 28, 1951 to parents Milton and Maggie (nee Short) Shelton in Richlands, Virginia.
Wayne worked as a pattern maker for over 30 years. He was married to the love of his life, Patty (nee Duesenberry) for 45 years. He was a man of integrity and great faith. He was hard working, a jack of all trades and always willing to help others in need. He was a praying man that was always passing on words of encouragement to others. A family man that loved fiercely but was not afraid to point out your wrongs, but it was done humbly and with love. He loved music and would play the guitar or the bass and have a great time singing with his family and friends. He was a worshipper and loved to sing His praises. He never met a stranger and had the “gift of gab”. Above all, he was a family man and loved spending time with them. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patty; loving children Amie (Thomas) Fischer and Kevin (Brittany) Shelton; cherished grandchildren Sean Gumm, Ashley Shelton, Andrew Howard and Cory Shelton; adoring great-grandchildren Erin and Adam; dear mother Maggie Shelton and his brother, Russ Shelton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Milton; sister, Carol Fox and precious granddaughter, Annalisa Wilcox.
Friends may call Saturday from 11AM until the time of services at 12 Noon at Refuge Church, 7942 Murray Ridge Rd., Elyria. Rev. Chad Britt, Pastor, will officiate. Due to COVID, masks and proper social distancing is required.
