Frederick Lenzer's Obituary
Frederick R. Lenzer, age 82, of Fort Wayne, Indiana and formerly Elyria, passed away Tuesday at the home of his daughter in Fort Wayne, following a long illness.
He was born in Newport, Kentucky and had been a resident of Fort Wayne the past six months moving from Elyria where he had lived since 2000. He previously resided in North Ridgeville for over 50 years.
Mr. Lenzer served in the United States Army during WWII, and attended The Ohio State University..
He worked as a machinist/millwright for Concrete Masonry Corporation, Elyria for 19 years, he then worked 10 years at Porter Public Library Maintenance in Westlake.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, North Ridgeville were he taught CCD & PSR and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1079, Elyria.
He enjoyed woodworking, art, writing poetry and gardening.
Survivors include his sons Mark S. of Fort Wayne, Indiana, David N. of Wellington; daughters Frances C. Atkinson of Sheffield Lake, Cynthia A. Trowbridge of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Sharon M. Butchar of Sheffield Lake, Ellen K. Smith of Albany and Anne F. Lenzer of Dublin; and eleven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. Lenzer (nee Wohlever) in 2002; parents, George and Frances (nee Wagner) Lenzer, sister Frances Lenzer and brothers, Nicholas, George and Thomas Lenzer.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville. A prayer service will be held 9:30 AM Saturday in the funeral home followed by 10:00 AM Mass at St. Peter Church 35777 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville. Reverend Stephen Kaminski, Pastor will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery. The VFW Post 9871 will conduct full military honors at the grave side.
